My friend wants to give me one of his old shotgun but I don’t have a firearms licence, do I need one?

Answer 1:
Yes, any person that wants to legally possess a firearm needs to have a Possession and Acquisition Licence.

Question 2:
My granddaughter is 14 and she wants to go hunting with me, does she need a firearms licence?

Answer 2:
Your granddaughter may use a firearms if she using in while you are close enough to take immediate action to prevent the unsafe or illegal use of that firearm. Another option is for her to take the Non-Restricted course and apply for a Minor’s Firearms Licence.

Question 3:
My friend wants to try hunting, I have a resident hunter number can he hunt with me without taking the C.O.R.E?

Answer 2:
In 2013/2014 there is a new Initiation Hunting License available to individuals 18 or older that have never previously held a hunting licence to try their hand at hunting. Holders of the initiation licence do not have to complete the C.O.R.E or have a Hunter Number Card .
